"The Light to the world"

For those who really thirst God, seek Him, His Truth, His holy, good, perfect will, and a narrow road into the Kingdom of God.

(The founder of the journal is a Christian journal "Revival" on-line in Russia  http//bogomolova.icu ).

Matthew 5:14: "You are the light of the world...

Let your light shine before men,

that they may see your good deeds and

praise your Father in heaven".

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ!

We'd like to bring to your attention a non-denominational Christian journal "The Light to the world".

We believe its contents will not allow you to stay indifferent, in case you really feel thirst for God and His truths.

Possibly, you may say that having become a Christian you already received salvation and stay on the safe ground? Partially it's true. But only partially. In one of the parables Jesus tells His disciples (who've already put their faith in Him) that in search for spiritual pearls they have to dig down, and to dig very deep (Luke 6:48). These words are also addressed to us, His present disciples. If we take them seriously, we shall lay the foundation of our house on rock - that is, on the teaching of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The evidence of our walking with the Lord will be proved by our bringing the fruit of the Spirit (Gal.5:22). Sooner or later this fruit will grow on the tree of our faith as a natural manifestation of our obedience to His Word.

If we don't have the fruits of faith and the fruit of the Spirit, it means we are staying in spiritual infancy, resting on the laurels of salvation received by grace. God gave it to us for free: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast" (Eph.2:8,9). By receiving this gift we just produce "the first cry of a baby", who is born into the Kingdom of God. But do we follow the narrow road after that, continuing to work out our salvation?

Just picture in your mind the scene as if you were drowning. Suddenly somebody throws you a life buoy. You convulsively grasp at it. Now you feel safe in a way. But the danger is not yet gone. You still have to reach the shore. Only there you may say: "now I am saved". What I mean is that we have to finish our marathon with Christ, if we started it once. We got salvation by His grace. But He tells to all of us: "Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life" (Rev.2:10). "To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life" (Rev.2:7). It's only the Lord who can help us overcome everything on the way to eternity, and get safely "to the shore". That's why we must seek Him and His guidance every day of our lives. The words of Christ: "seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7) were also addressed to those who had already put their faith in Him and confessed Him as their Lord and Savior.

Just think: when we meet a person in real life, we get only a vague idea of him (or her). But it's only if we keep in touch for years, that we come to know each other closely. Our illusions fade away, and we see the real image of the one we got interested in. The same way with the Lord. He is great. His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. His understanding no one can fathom. And what He revealed about Himself in the Holy Scriptures is worth of any admiration and desire to approach Him closer. So let's use the short days of our pilgrimage on earth to know Him as best we can, so that when we stand in front of Him in eternity, we won't be ashamed to see the One, whom we didn't really know. These thoughts are very important. Much more important than we could imagine. And it's worth taking them seriously. Otherwise we are in danger of hearing from the Lord on the Day of Judgement: "Away from Me.. I never knew you" (Matthew 7:23).

Possibly, some of you take a high spiritual position and wear solid spiritual "shoulder-boards". Maybe, you have done much work for the Lord. But even in this case before Him we are "unworthy servants who have only done their duty" (Luke 17:10). Moreover, being overwhelmed with work for the glory of His name, we sometimes forget about the Lord Himself. We stop being the children, who always need to feel warm embraces of their Heavenly Father and to get new revelations from Him. Every day He creates new things. That's why reading meditations of Christians from different confessions, analyzing their deep observations of the spiritual picture of modern world, even the most experienced ministers can at times get a deeper understanding of their walking with the Lord. They can also get a glimpse about God's ways in the lives of His sheep, whom He entrusted into pastors' hands.

Would you agree that all people are different? It also relates to Christians. Sometimes people who believe in Christ create His image leaning on the words and pictures which flatter their hearing. This is the reason why there are so many faiths on the same God.

By publishing this journal we don't mean to show all sides of God's truth. But we'll try to share the sides which are opened to His children guided by the Holy Spirit. They live in different countries, attend different churches, belong to different confessions and denominations. But they have His Spirit inside. In their variety they make a portrait of the Bride for whom the Heavenly Bridegroom will come. For "only those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God" (Rom.8:14).

In this journal we raise the questions which disturb Christians all over the world. What is the true Church? Why is there so much quarreling, misunderstanding and even open antagonism among those who call themselves Christians? What is a narrow road? How can one learn to hear and discern God's voice among so many voices and opinions? These topics and a lot of others are really of interest, aren't they?

We, the christians of the end times, see quite evidently how quickly this world is falling into darkness. Once the Lord said, addressing His disciples: "You are the light to the world" (Matthew 5:14). Dear friends, are we really the light to the world, which is drowned in sin? Do we have enough oil in our lamps? Do people see divine light coming from our hearts? Or are we the smoldering candles, whose light is hidden under a vessel?

It will be interesting for us to know that a candle is only then able to give warmth and light, when it burns down for itself. Isn't it the reason of our coolness? How can we give light to others, if we are living only for ourselves? Have we put our hearts on the altar of the Lord? Let everyone think about it. If we never let God crucify our carnal man with his passions and lustful desires, there can be no place for light inside us.

We, as founders of this journal, believe that God put it in our hearts to name it "The Light to the world" for a good reason. We ask Him for grace and mercy to publish the material, which is really the Light - not only for the people of the world (who can read it too), but also for christians who are plunging into darkness together with this world. In our days the quantity of such christians is growing. The Lord tells them: "..you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead" (Revelation 3:1). We pray that our Heavenly Father touches the heart of His every child, no matter of his (or her) spiritual level or spiritual age. Let His Word encourage those of you who've been following Him for a long time already. Let it help the spiritual infants, who've just started their Way, to grow into mature men and women of God. And let it serve as a rebuke to those who've fallen into a sleep or turned away from the narrow road of following the Lord.

Let Jesus' words: "You are the light to the world.." (Matthew 5:14)

become a slogan for the coming year and the years yet to come.
